I've just seen this news article about an amazing parrot that not only has a vocabulary of 900 words, but has a sense of humour, and can make statements in the context he is in.
For example, when he saw another parrot hanging upside down on a perch, he said, 'got to get that on camera'. This is certainly no dead parrot....
